Founder of the Daughters of Charity
Saint Louise de Marillac was a French Catholic nun and founder of the Daughters of Charity. She was born in 1591 in Paris, France and died in 1660. Louise was a member of the nobility and was raised in a devout Catholic family. She was educated at the Sorbonne and became a novice in the Daughters of Charity. Louise was known for her compassion and kindness towards the poor and marginalized. She was canonized as a saint in 1930 and is still revered today as a model of mercy and spirituality.
