American chess grandmaster and former World Chess Champion
Samuel Reshevsky was an American chess grandmaster and former World Chess Champion. Born in 1911, Reshevsky became a grandmaster at 18 and won the World Chess Championship in 1941. He was known for his positional playing style and was one of the strongest players of his generation. Reshevsky was also a successful author and coach, and his books on chess remain popular to this day. He passed away in 1992 at the age of 80.
