San Pedro Claver

Pedro Claver was a Spanish Jesuit missionary and bishop. He is considered a patron saint of Panama. Claver was born in 1580 in Montpellier, France, to a Spanish family. He entered the Jesuit order at the age of 17 and was ordained as a priest. Claver was sent to South America in 1605 and worked in present-day Colombia and Panama. He was martyred in Panama in 1651.
