Northern Ireland politician and former leader of the Social Democratic and Labour Party
Seamus Mallon was a Northern Irish politician who served as the leader of the Social Democratic and Labour Party from 1999 to 2001. He was a key figure in the peace process in Northern Ireland and played a leading role in the negotiations that led to the Good Friday Agreement. Mallon was born in 1936 in Ballymagorry, County Londonderry, and died in 2020. He was a strong advocate for Irish reunification and was a vocal critic of the British government's handling of the Troubles.
