Seweryna Szpilman was a Polish Jewish woman who survived the Holocaust. She was born in 1925 in Warsaw, Poland, and survived the Nazi occupation of Poland. After the war, she became a writer and published her memoir, 'The Pianist', which was later adapted into a film by Roman Polanski.
