Sextus Tempanius was a plebeian hero and cavalry commander who played a key role in the Roman army's victory over the Volsci in 423 BCE. He is remembered as one of the four horsemen who dismounted and led the Roman army on foot during the battle. Tempanius was elected to serve as a plebeian tribune in 422 BCE, but his legacy is shrouded in mystery. Little is known about his life beyond his military exploits.
