Shelley Moore Capito is an American politician serving as the senior United States Senator for West Virginia since 2015. She is a member of the Republican Party and previously served as the Governor of West Virginia from 2013 to 2015. Capito is the first woman to serve as Governor of West Virginia and the first Republican woman to serve in the U.S. Senate from the state.
