Rabbi and former Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel
Shmuel Eliyahu is a rabbi and former Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel. He was born in 1943 in Jerusalem and studied at the Yeshiva University in New York. Eliyahu served as the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel from 2003 to 2013. During his tenure, he was a vocal advocate for the importance of Jewish law and tradition in Israeli society. Eliyahu has written several books on Jewish law and ethics. He is a prominent figure in Israeli Orthodox Judaism and has been a frequent guest on Israeli television and radio programs.
