Simon Marius was a German astronomer and mathematician who made significant contributions to the field of astronomy in the 17th century. He is best known for being the first person to observe the Andromeda Galaxy using a telescope. Marius was born in 1573 in Nuremberg, Germany, and studied mathematics and astronomy at the University of Ingolstadt. He later became a professor of mathematics at the University of Altdorf and made several important discoveries in the field of astronomy.
