Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is a British sailor and explorer. He is best known for becoming the first person to sail solo non-stop around the world, completing the journey in April 1969. Knox-Johnston's voyage was part of the Golden Globe race, a prestigious sailing competition that was initiated by The Sunday Times. He has written several books about his sailing experiences and has been recognized for his contributions to the sport of sailing. Knox-Johnston was knighted in 1995 for his services to sailing.
