St. Anselm was a medieval philosopher and theologian who is best known for his Proslogion, a short work that introduced the ontological argument for God's existence. He was a monk, abbot, and Archbishop of Canterbury, and his writings had a profound impact on the development of scholasticism. St. Anselm was born in 1033 and died in 1109. He is considered one of the most important figures in the history of philosophy and theology.
