Saint and abbess
St. Gertrude the Great was a 7th-century Benedictine abbess and saint. She was born in 626 AD and died in 659 AD. Gertrude was known for her piety, her love of learning, and her strong leadership skills. She was the abbess of the Paraclete Abbey in Paray-le-Monial, France, and was revered for her spiritual wisdom and her ability to guide her community. Gertrude was also known for her devotion to the Eucharist and her love of prayer. She was canonized as a saint in 1638 and is still revered today for her example of faith and spirituality.
