St. Ignatius of Antioch was a bishop of Antioch in the 2nd century AD. He is best known for his martyrdom during the persecution of Christians under the Roman Emperor Diocletian. According to tradition, Ignatius was arrested, tortured, and eventually executed by being fed to lions in the Colosseum. He is considered a saint by the Catholic Church and is revered as a model of courage and devotion.
