Stephen Hopkins was a colonial American politician and lawyer who played a significant role in the American Revolution. He was a delegate to the Continental Congress and served as the president of the Rhode Island Provincial Congress. Hopkins was a key figure in the Rhode Island delegation that helped to secure independence from Great Britain. He was also a skilled lawyer and served as the chief justice of Rhode Island. Hopkins was born in 1707 and died in 1785. He is remembered as a leading figure in the fight for American independence.
