Civil Rights Activist and Leader
Stokely Carmichael was a prominent American civil rights activist and leader. Born in 1941, he was a key figure in the Black Power movement and played a significant role in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. Carmichael was a leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and was known for his advocacy of black nationalism and self-defense. He was also a vocal critic of racism and police brutality. Carmichael was assassinated in 1998, but his legacy continues to be felt in the civil rights movement. He is remembered as a courageous and passionate advocate for social justice.
