Sylvia Rivera

Sylvia Rivera was an American LGBTQ+ rights activist and drag queen. She was a prominent figure in the Stonewall riots and was a key organizer of the Gay Liberation Front. Rivera was also a vocal advocate for the rights of homeless LGBTQ+ youth and was a founding member of the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries. She was known for her bravery and her commitment to social justice. Rivera was born in 1951 in Bayonne, New Jersey and died in 2002. She is widely regarded as a hero of the LGBTQ+ rights movement.
