Japanese philosopher and psychologist
Tetsuro Watsuji was a Japanese philosopher and psychologist who made significant contributions to the fields of phenomenology and psychology. He is best known for his work on the concept of 'ikigai', which roughly translates to 'reason for being'. Watsuji was born in 1889 and passed away in 1960. He was a professor at Kyoto University and wrote extensively on topics such as consciousness, perception, and the human condition. Despite his passing, Watsuji's work continues to be widely studied and respected today.
