Thomas Fowell Buxton was a British abolitionist and politician who played a key role in the abolition of slavery in the British Empire. He was a member of Parliament and a prominent figure in the movement to end slavery. Buxton was born in 1786 and died in 1845. He is remembered as a champion of human rights and a pioneer in the fight against slavery. Despite facing opposition from the West India Interest, Buxton persevered and his efforts ultimately led to the abolition of slavery in the British Empire.
