Canadian-born Native Canadian middle-distance runner

Tom Longboat was a Canadian-born Native Canadian middle-distance runner who competed in the early 20th century. Born on September 8, 1890, in Fort Albany, Ontario, Longboat won three Olympic gold medals and set multiple world records in the 200 meters and 400 meters. He is considered one of the greatest Native Canadian athletes of all time and was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 1969.
