Thomas Lee Paxton, known professionally as Tom Paxton, is an American folk singer-songwriter and musician. He was born on March 3, 1937, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Paxton began his music career in the early 1960s and became a prominent figure in the American folk music revival of the 1960s. He released numerous albums and singles throughout his career, including the popular song 'The Green Stone.' Paxton was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for 'My Cup Runneth Over' from the 1984 film 'Six Degrees of Separation.' He has won multiple Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Paxton is known for his soothing baritone voice, witty lyrics, and eclectic musical style, which blends elements of folk, rock, and country music. In addition to his music career, Paxton has written several books and has worked as a teacher and artist.
