Toni Cade Bambara was an American author, activist, and educator. She was a prominent figure in the feminist and civil rights movements, and was known for her work as a writer, teacher, and community organizer. Bambara was the first African American woman to be published in the influential literary magazine The Feminist Review. She was also a prolific writer, publishing numerous short stories, essays, and novels. Bambara's work often explored themes of racism, sexism, and social justice, and she was widely respected for her intelligence, wit, and activism. She passed away in 2016, but her work continues to be celebrated and studied by scholars and readers around the world.
