Tsar of Russia
Tsar Paul I was the Tsar of Russia from 1796 to 1801. He was the son of Catherine the Great and was known for his conservative and authoritarian policies. Paul I was a strong supporter of the Russian Orthodox Church and was opposed to the Enlightenment and the French Revolution. He was assassinated in 1801 by a group of conspirators. Paul I was born in 1754 in St. Petersburg, Russia, and died in 1801. He is remembered as one of the most unpopular monarchs in Russian history.
