Punjabi revolutionary
Udham Singh was a Punjabi revolutionary who played a key role in India's freedom movement. Born in 1897 in Jhelum, Punjab, Singh was deeply influenced by the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress. He spent 21 years preparing for his act of defiance, which took place on March 13, 1940, in Caxton Hall, London. Singh's actions were seen as a bold statement against British colonial rule and were widely reported in the media at the time. He was later tried and convicted of murder, but his actions are still celebrated as a symbol of resistance against oppression.
