Linus Pauling was an American chemist, biochemist, and peace activist. He is best known for his work on the chemical bond, quantum mechanics, and his advocacy for nuclear disarmament and human rights. He was awarded two Nobel Prizes, one in chemistry and one in peace. He was also a prominent figure in the anti-war movement and a vocal critic of the Vietnam War.
