Award-winning children's book illustrator and author
Uri Shulevitz is a Polish-born Israeli illustrator and author of children's books. He was born in 1935 in Poland and began drawing at the age of three. Shulevitz moved to Paris in 1947 and later to Israel, where he studied art and literature. He began his career as a children's book illustrator in the 1960s and has since become one of the most acclaimed children's book authors and illustrators in the world. Shulevitz has won numerous awards, including the Caldecott Medal, the Charlotte Zolotow Award, and the Golden Kite Award. He currently lives in New York City.
