Vasily Kotov was a Soviet chess grandmaster and one of the most popular chess authors of his time. He was known for his aggressive and creative playing style, which was characterized by his use of the King's Gambit and other sharp openings. Kotov was also a strong advocate for chess education and wrote several books on chess strategy and theory. He was born in Russia and passed away in 1981. Kotov is remembered as one of the greatest chess players of the 20th century.
