Venerable Master Sheng Yen is a Taiwanese Buddhist master and founder of the Dharma Drum Mountain monastery. He was born in 1933 and became a monk at the age of 12. Yen has written several books on Buddhism and has been a prominent figure in the Buddhist community. He has also been involved in various charitable and community outreach programs.
