Vernon Scannell

British writer and poet

Vernon Scannell was a British writer and poet. He was born in 1915 and died in 1997. Scannell served in the British Army during World War II and was imprisoned by the Germans. After the war, he became a writer and published several books of poetry. He was awarded a civil list pension for his services to literature. Scannell was also a prize-fighter and was known for his colourful personality.
