Víctor Jara was a Chilean poet, musician, and activist who was a key figure in the Chilean folk music movement. He was a prominent critic of the Pinochet regime and was killed in 1973 during the military coup. Jara was a prolific writer and composer, and his music and poetry continue to be celebrated in Chile and around the world.
