Physicist and Nobel laureate
Miklós Wigner was a Hungarian-American physicist who made significant contributions to the development of quantum mechanics and nuclear physics. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1963 for his work on the theory of nuclear reactions. Wigner was a professor at the University of Chicago and the Institute for Advanced Study. He was also a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Wigner was born in Budapest, Hungary, and immigrated to the United States in 1938. He died in 1995.
