William Ames was an English Puritan theologian and writer. He is best known for his work on the Marrow of Theology. Ames was a prominent figure in the Puritan movement and wrote extensively on theology, church government, and education. He was a fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and served as a chaplain to the English Parliament. Ames' works include The Marrow of Theology, A Treatise of Reformed Church-Government, and A Treatise of the Passions of the Soul. He died in 1633.
