William Frederick Cody was an American scout, soldier, and showman. He is best known for his role in the development of the Wild West Show, a traveling exhibition of cowboy skills and stunts. Cody was born in 1846 in Le Claire, Iowa, and died in 1917 in Denver, Colorado. He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War and later worked as a scout for the U.S. Army. Cody was also a skilled marksman and was known for his bravery in battle. He is considered one of the most famous figures of the American West.
