US Navy Admiral and Officer
William H. O'Brien Rosecrans was a US Navy officer, best known for his leadership during World War I. Born on January 9, 1850, in New York City, Rosecrans graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1873. He served as a midshipman, then instructor at Annapolis before seeing action in the Spanish-American War. During World War I, he played a key role in commanding various naval units including the Battle of the Atlantic. Rosecrans died on April 11, 1924.
