William I, also known as William the Conqueror, was the King of England and Normandy from 1066 until his death in 1087. He was the leader of the Norman Conquest of England and is remembered for his military campaigns and administrative reforms. William I was born in 1028 in Falaise, Normandy, and was the son of Robert I, Duke of Normandy. He became king after defeating the English army at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
