Scottish privateer and pirate
William Kidd was a Scottish privateer who was tasked with hunting down pirates on the orders of the British crown. He was born in Scotland in 1645 and began his career as a sailor at a young age. Kidd became a privateer in the late 17th century and was known for his bravery and cunning. However, he eventually turned to piracy and was captured and executed in 1701. Kidd's life has been the subject of much debate and controversy, with some viewing him as a hero and others as a villain.
