William Luther Pierce III was an American white supremacist, author, and founder of the National Alliance. He was born on March 18, 1937, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Pierce was a physics professor at the University of Southern California before becoming a prominent figure in white supremacist politics. He wrote the novel The Turner Diaries, which is considered a seminal work of white supremacist literature. Pierce was also the founder of the National Youth Alliance, a college-based fascist group. He was assassinated on March 23, 2002, by a 77-year-old woman who was upset about his views.
