William Tweed was an American politician and businessman who served as the leader of the Tammany Hall Democratic Party in New York City. He was born in 1823 in New York City and rose to prominence in the 1860s as a leader of the Democratic Party. Tweed was known for his corrupt practices and was eventually arrested and imprisoned for embezzlement. He escaped from prison in 1875 and disappeared, leading to a massive manhunt. Tweed's disappearance remains one of the most infamous in American history. He is based in New York City.
