Woody Herman was an American jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, and bandleader. He was born in 1913 and died in 1987. Herman was one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century, known for his virtuosic clarinet playing and his ability to blend jazz with other styles, such as swing and pop. He led many bands throughout his career, including the Woody Herman Orchestra, which became one of the most popular jazz bands of the 1940s and 1950s. Herman was also a prolific recording artist and released many albums throughout his career.
