Zheng Chenggong was a Chinese pirate and merchant who played a significant role in the development of the Chinese maritime trade empire. He is best known for his role in establishing the Zheng family's maritime trade empire and his involvement in the Dutch East India Company. Zheng Chenggong was born in 1624 and died in 1661. He is considered one of the most important figures in Chinese maritime history.
