A Galveston County jury sentenced 61 year old James Elmore to 20 years in prison yesterday for the role he played in a decade's old Texas killing fields case. News 88 7's Julianne Washburn reports. Jers decided Elmore sentencing less than 24 hours after they found him guilty of manslaughter in the death of 16 year old Laura Miller. Elmore was accused of preparing a vile of cocaine that prosecutors say ultimately led to Laura's death. Tim Miller, Laura's father, spoke directly to Elmore after the sentencing. Tim said, even though Elmore had a part in his daughter's death, he would do everything he could to keep Elmore's son alive while he's in prison. The damage has been done so deeply, even though you murdered my daughter, I'm going to do everything I can do to try and keep your son alive. Tim said he hoped Elmore would find peace someday.

It's been eight weeks since Lorenzo Sagado, Raoho, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico living in Houston was shot and killed by federal agents. Two of his sons, Ronaldo and Lorenzo, Jr. Salcato, say their lives have changed dramatically. In case you missed it, the brother spoke with Ernie Manus on Hello Houston about how the family is still grappling with the loss of their father. My mom, of course, is hurting every single day as a reminder of his absence. He spends hours in front of the alter that we have at home. My dad, she spends hours in front of that just reflecting and reading her prayer book. It's heartbreaking because it was just like that taken away from her with no warning, no chance to say goodbye.
