A flash flood warning has been issued for Northwestern Liberty, southeastern Polk, and southeastern San Jacinto counties until 1 p.m. This is the last remnants of tropical storm edward continuing to move through and eventually out of the areas northeast of the Houston Metro region. Katie Landry is a hydrologist with the National Weather Service. She says the concern is heavy rain pounding these areas that have already been hit hard. Any rainfall on top of the saturated areas will turn to direct runoff. And so there are two flash flood winds issued. The one in Polk County actually has a considerable damage tag, which is what triggers the wireless emergency alert. Landry says if these storms continue on through the afternoon, there could be rainfall totals that are higher than that depending on when the storm setup. Polk County and the cities of Livingston and on Alaska have issued disaster declarations. The Red Cross has opened up a shelter at the Dunbar Gym in Livingston. A Galveston County jury found 61-year-old James Elmore guilty of felony manslaughter

1:02in the decades-old Texas Killing Fields case. As news 88-7s Julianne Washburn tells us the verdict comes more than four decades after the death of 16-year-old Laura Miller. Tim Miller could be seen crying and court Wednesday after a guilty verdict was read. He's been seeking justice for his daughter Laura for over 40 years. Elmore was accused of preparing a vile of cocaine for his alleged friend in prime suspect Clyde Heedrick to give to Laura. Prosecutors say that's what ultimately led to her death in the 1980s. Tim says hearing Elmore's verdict made everything feel real. I think there was still some of that denial in there of what really happened. So when that verdict came in of guilty, then I think the anger hit too. Yes, he murdered my daughter. The jury will deliberate on Elmore's punishment starting this morning.
