A flash flood warning continues for Polk, Northwestern Liberty and southeastern San Jacinto counties until 1 p.m. These are the last remnants of tropical storm edge warred continuing to move out of the area. Katie Landry is a hydrologist with a national weather service. She says the concern is heavy rain pounding areas that have already been hit hard. We're seeing rainfall rates upwards of 2 to 3 inches per hour because these storms are moving across these areas within the next hour to 2 with the accumulated rainfall total is anywhere from 1 to 3 inches. And that's for the warning time frame. Landry says if these storms continue on through the afternoon, there could be rainfall totals that are higher than that depending on when the storm set up. Polk County and the cities of Livingston and on Alaska have issued disaster declarations since over 15 inches of rain fell there yesterday alone.
