This week’s Roz & Mocha Retro Show is a trip back to one of the show’s most random—and most requested—throwback bits! Big thanks to Brandon for asking us to revive the segment we honestly don’t remember why we stopped doing: “Rub It On My Face.” We dug deep into the vault and pulled together a bunch of wild, hilarious moments from the original “Rub It On My Face” segments dating all the way back to 2013. Get ready for pure vintage chaos from the early days of Roz & Mocha!
There are people walking free right now who believe they've gotten away with murder.
That's where island crime comes in.
My name is Laura Palmer.
I'm a veteran journalist and I investigate unsolved homicides and missing person cases
on Vancouver Island.
And these aren't just cold cases pulled from the archives.
I'm uncovering new leads, tracking down witnesses who've never spoken publicly before, listen
to island crime, wherever you get your podcasts.
All right, so admittedly, I have no idea where Maureen is, like every week, hold on,
three is calling.
Hello?
Hello?
Maureen, what are you calling?
I wanted to see what it felt like to be, you know, a caller and phone in.
So do you want to do the show this way then this week?
Hold on.
Are you okay if I do, like I think we're doing, it's alright.
Geez.
Okay.
Yeah.
You know, yeah, go back outside because we're getting an echo, man.
Okay.
Do it this way.
All right.
Well, hi, everybody.
This is the Rosamoke retro show myself.
No, I don't like this.
You don't like this?
Okay.
All right.
Come in.
Come in.
This is so weird.
Rosamoke retro show with myself and David Maureen.
This is where we dig into the archives of the Rosamoke show and we relive some of our favorite
moments.
Okay.
Maureen.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
So this is by request for Brandon.
Thank you, Brandon for setting this in.
So a few years ago, many years ago, roughly 10 years ago, if not nine.
And usually around Christmas time or whenever there was a theme or something, we used to play
a game called Rub-It-On-My-Face.
Oh, boy.
I remember this.
And it's exactly.
Oh, yeah.
I remember the ones where I'd sit blindfolded next to Roz.
I know.
I know, ladies.
I know.
And Roz would rub things on my feet.
I know, ladies.
I know.
So we're going to relive some rub it on my face.
I took.
So it's always in three chunks, like part one, part two, by the way.
So I grabbed part two of three different ones.
So we have like kind of like a smorgish borg of rubbets.
Yep.
And so let's throw it against the wall and because I don't know what we're rubbing, but I
know on whose face.
Wow.
We relive it.
Rub it on my face from when, Lori?
2013.
All right.
Let's listen to that.
Roz and Mocha.
Retro 2013.
Rub.
Hit.
On.
My face.
All right, Lori.
And those plugs are going back on tighter with those plugs.
Come on.
You need like extra large.
Do they come in different sizes?
Screw you.
Yeah.
Okay.
The mask is on.
So if you're just joining us, we're playing rub it on my face.
Yes.
The first item that we...
It's still on my face.
That's still on Lori's face.
It was a dryer lint.
Yeah.
By the way, Roz, how long have you been saving up that dryer lint?
A long time.
Yeah, quite a long time.
There's some stuff in there.
I know.
That's so disgusting.
Let's take a truck.
Yes.
All right.
Here we go.
The mystery item is...
Dental floss.
A ball of used dental floss.
Mori, are you ready?
Sure.
I'm about to rub it on your face.
Here we go.
I got it.
It's hard to hold.
That's what she said.
Thank you.
Thank you.
All right.
Everything's soft today.
Yeah, I know.
What does it feel like?
You know those old pens that had feathers on them?
Oh, yeah.
Like an old-timey pen.
Old-timey pen.
Like a feather.
What else does it feel like?
What could it be, do you think?
It really only feels like a feather.
Does it feel nice?
Yeah.
Comforting?
Yeah.
Feathers are comforting.
It's on my lips.
Do you want to take a guess?
I really just stuck on feather.
Okay.
Mori, would you like to see what it is?
Please remove your mask.
What is that?
Dental floss?
Use?
Yes.
No, it's fair.
No, it's not.
Use dental floss, Mori.
It doesn't matter.
It's use.
Oh, man.
Okay, Mori, do we try for one more?
No, we don't.
Quickly, quickly.
Well, let's do one more quickly, please.
We always have time for one more.
Okay, Mori.
Here we go.
Okay.
Hang on.
We got to do this.
The mystery item is...
All right, Mori.
Headphone to solitude on.
What is that?
Butter.
A cold stick of butter.
No!
No!
Don't even!
Actually, yes.
Okay, Mori.
All right.
Headphone to solitude off.
Okay.
Are you ready?
Yes.
Now to rub it on your face.
Here we go.
Let me know how this feels.
It feels good.
Yeah.
It's kind of cold.
What's it feel like?
Like plastic.
What else?
Like rubber?
What else?
Get some on your neck right there.
You know, it feels nice.
Yeah.
Like it's everything sort of soft today.
Yeah.
I'm not.
We're not looking to hurt your body.
Like what of Roxy's doll feet?
A doll foot.
Okay, Mori's guess is a doll foot.
Mori, would you please take your mask off?
And look what we just rubbed on your face.
It went better.
You're a butter on me.
Oh my face.
And ladies and gentlemen, that is how you play.
Rub it on my face.
Rub it on my face.
All right, welcome back to Rub it on my face.
Yep.
Mori is sitting with the headphones of solitude on.
He cannot hear word we're saying right now.
He has his sleep mask on and his nose plugs.
Mokar, are you ready?
Yep.
The mystery item is...
Oh my God.
This is a sausage.
Dude.
Okay.
Is that like...
This is a...
It's a spicy...
Yeah.
A chorizo sausage.
Oh my God.
A spicy chorizo sausage.
It looks delicious.
You're going to be sad about moving it on Mori's face.
Okay, so here we go.
Oh man.
Mori's headphones are now off.
All right, Mori, are you ready?
Yep.
I'm about to rub it on your face.
Tell me if you like this feeling.
Slightly cold.
Is it familiar in any way?
Yeah.
Like it feels like a magic eraser?
Like a magic eraser.
Yeah, but it's leaving some sort of residue.
Yeah, there's lips.
Sort of like, yeah, magic.
Something that's kind of like a...
Felty?
Felty.
Yeah, like, you know, like it's not like a feather,
but it's kind of like it has full felt.
Okay, hold on one second here.
I'm just going to do one thing.
Maybe this will remind you what it is.
Is it like a rubber chicken?
Oh.
Okay, I get it.
Hang on.
I'm going to go with...
Wait.
Wait.
I want you to do what you did again.
Yeah.
Real quick.
Put this on it.
Okay.
Okay, you ready?
Yeah.
I'm going to go with...
Can it be a doll leg?
Okay, Mori has guessed a doll leg.
A doll's leg.
Doll's leg.
Mocha back over to your microphone.
Like Barbie?
Okay, Mori has guessed a doll's leg.
Oh, no, but specifically Barbie's leg.
A Barbie leg.
Mori, please remove your mask.
Ew.
You were hitting me with your sausage.
It's like an Italian, like a cabassa.
It's nasty.
Oh, man.
What if I could smell?
Okay.
Mori, mask back on.
We got one more.
All right.
Mori sitting here again with the headphones of solitude on.
Volume crank.
Volume crank.
Volume crank.
So we can't hear anything.
Now, going back into my tickle trunk here.
Yeah.
What's left, I wonder?
What?
So hang on.
Just to recap.
Yeah.
A shower.
A shower puff that I used to.
I found it.
I didn't even think this thing would last.
It's pre-millennium.
It's from the 90s.
Yeah.
I used to wash myself with it when I would go dancing shirtless
in the clubs when I would get home.
And then we had a cue tip that Mocha dipped in his ear.
I actually did a full cleaning in his ear.
I'll rub that all over Mori's face.
You above his lip.
And we just had a chorizo sausage.
Yes.
Which I still smell in here.
Okay.
Mocha, please.
The mystery item is my deodorant.
No.
My deodorant.
Now, as you know, as you know, I use a lady's deodorant.
I use a secret smooth solid.
The scent is protecting powder.
So hold on here.
I'm just going to pop in the lid off.
Now, I'm going to give it a couple of cranks up just to get some juice out.
Ready?
Ready?
Ready?
Are you ready?
Are you ready?
Are you ready?
Okay.
Oh, my God.
Hang on.
I have to take a picture of this.
Okay.
All right.
Mori, headphones off, please, sir.
Okay, Mori.
I am about to rub it on your face.
Okay.
Okay.
Here we go.
Feels like like a rubber band.
Like a rubber band.
Like an elastic.
No more like a school eraser.
Like a school eraser.
But then there's like tracers or leftovers.
There's left like residue.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's weird, but okay.
It feels kind of like, what's that thing?
Like a suction cup?
A suction cup.
Good guess.
Oh, wait.
But now when you went by my chin, it's kind of like wood.
Wood on my chin.
So Mori thinks I'm rubbing wood on his chin.
No, he wishes.
Like just down by the chin, it feels more like a block.
Like a block of wood.
Okay.
Oh, man.
What is that?
Okay, Mori.
You get...
I'm getting substance, but not names.
Okay.
We need a guess from you, damn it, Mori.
Okay.
You need a guess.
I'm going to say...
Lint roller.
A lint roller.
You went from block of wood to a lint roller.
Because lint rollers have like the wooden stub.
Okay.
Mori, please remove your mask.
Oh my God.
Ew.
What?
It's deodorant.
It's my deodorant.
Oh my God, from your armpit to my face.
You rub your armpit on my face, basically.
Oh my God.
And it's ladies.
Yeah.
And it was fully cranks, by the way.
I gave it...
Wait, it's still on my face.
It's still on your face.
Oh my God.
That...
Ew.
It smells like powdery when I take my nose plug off.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
Alright, everybody.
I think that was another successful round.
Oh.
Rub.
It.
On.
My face.
Okay.
Are you having fun thus far?
This is Brendan's request.
Am I having fun?
You're having the first one.
Let me rub some of your face.
Oh no, we're not doing this.
Okay, you know what?
I'm going to do it.
Play along.
Go ahead.
Are your eyes closed?
Yep.
Oh, Paul.
Ew.
What?
That's good.
I don't even want to know.
It's your phone.
Oh, really?
My phone.
He smacked me with my own phone.
It felt like fingers.
Where did that come from?
Really?
That's so weird.
Okay.
Oh, let's see.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, thanks Matt.
Okay.
Let's play one more rubort on my face.
Mori?
Ros and Moka.
Retro 2013.
Rub!
It!
On my face!
창 observing!
어?
So the name of the game is Rubbit on my face..
o***
Damn it, Mori.
Has a sleet mask on right now.
And nose plugs.
So he can't see or smell anything.
And he's also got the...
the headphones.
Oh no.
What is this about?
Please.
It's so fascinating.
the the headphones of solitude on, so he can't hear us say what the item is.
Ross has, oh my god, a whole bunch of stuff that he brought from home.
If you missed it, the first item that Ross ripped on Morse's face was a banana.
And this next item...
Morse, are you ready?
I'm ready.
The mystery item is a ball of human hair.
I don't want anything dripping.
I don't want anything dripping on my shirt.
Okay, Morse, are you ready?
Yeah.
You gotta go harder.
That's what she said.
Morse, we'll describe what it feels like right now.
It's kind of warm and fuzzy.
Toothbrush.
Nope.
What else?
What does it feel like?
It feels kind of like cotton batten.
Does it feel nice?
Yeah.
Does it feel familiar?
A little bit.
Is it something you'd like to have on your face regularly?
No.
I don't think my guess is more.
Kind of like a lint roller.
Like a lint roller.
Not the lips.
Like, is it your calm?
Is it like...
There's like streaky hairs, like remnants of hair.
Remnants?
Morse, do you have a guess?
I'm gonna stick with lint roller.
Okay, Morse, take off your blindfold.
Human hair.
Ew.
Why would you do that?
Who?
Do your mobs.
That is gross.
I can get something from that.
Love it on my face.
Do you miss that game?
I miss that game.
Is that a game?
Is that what we call it a game?
I mean, I guess it was, because if you guessed what it was,
ding, ding, you win.
I know.
I never did.
Yeah, I could tell.
So, do you wish we could play it again?
I do.
Most things felt like Barbie's foot.
How do you...
You know what?
I asked you many questions.
There you go.
Another edition of the Rosmoca Retro Show.
I'm Shem the Stim and Mori.
You're gonna go...
Never mind.
Not gonna ask the question.
You're gonna go what?
Nope.
No question.
No hands?
