But if you noticed last night was the beginning of the fantasy season. And I believe it was yours truly who has the highest score going into tonight. Well, nothing it means squat. It means nothing. But, you know, I'll take my F and I'll wear it probably. Yes, and it's pretty good draft pick. And he gave you 22 last night. So nicely done there, buddy. You are going against copes. Who is one of those teams that we can't say on the air? There's like, I was going to say, Murf, I was looking at our league. And you and me and Danny Dunn are the only people that picked names that we could actually say.

2:03Yeah, we've already gone over this a couple of times this week. And we're not going to be a name and team names this year. We're going to keep it just. I think you'd be identified by team owner. Yeah, keep it simple. And Larry, I have to ask because the 49ers faced a lot of criticism this year at their draft by not going with the consensus board and all the mock drafts. Have you faced any criticism in the K and B are fantasy league with not going with the consensus board and going with the Larry Krueger big board? Well, exactly, Marcus, you know me. I wear criticism as a badge of honor. It's a major, major portion of my career has been criticism. So yeah, no, I'm actually, you know, I'm the guy who thinks I know more than everybody else. So then I doesn't bother me that we, you know, you criticize, I'll take the criticism. I mean, my team stacked, man, I got pretty and break or may feel like I got to, I got to squad this year. So I'm coming for blood. I like it. Like Desjardin's dribbling. We'll see what happens. Our buddy will finally, man, we talked and we talked and we talked and we talked. We talked and we talked and we is here, although we got to talk some more actually today at noon in Alameda with a special guest at 1215 to all right Krueger.

3:10What do you think that I guess the news would be they lost Alfred Collins. And James Thompson is questionable. So how serious, how much of a crisis is the D line? Well, you know what, it's the problem was not that Alfred Collins got hurt. The problem was that Alfred Collins wasn't playing well before he got hurt. So it's actually kind of a gift. It's like having a terrible host on your radio station. You got rid of them. You know what I mean, it's like, you know, you don't have to work. I mean, I hate to say that because I love Alfred Collins, but Alfred Collins wasn't playing well. He was rushing the passer. He wasn't, he wasn't anchoring against the run. And I don't think that was going to change. I watched it all summer on a daily basis. I'm not 100% sure why they didn't try to put him on some kind of an injured list. Because he seems to be a shadow of what he was last year. He was a key cog in that Rams victory down there. And he anchored against the run and was functionally strong late in the year. But you know what, it just, I don't know what happened to him.

4:12I don't know if it's a shoulder, the knee, the combination. But his, he had absolutely no ability to play the run. And he's not a past russure. So, you know, I kind of think this might be a break. You know, you're not, you were about to invest a bunch of snaps in a guy that wasn't playing well and wasn't going to play well. And now you're going to have to find somebody else. But you know what, there's an, the chances are that somebody else can play. And they do have some other guys here. James Thompson's real CJ West, if he's in shape and I'm kind of question that. But he can really help out Grayson Holt and his really, really quick. I think you may see Keon white on some third downs inside next to Osu Diggie Zua with maybe an agbo, Bosa, you know, Flanks and those two guys in, in Osu and Keon inside. So I still think they're going to be able to mount a rush. But you never want to see your defensive line depth depleted, especially before you play a game. Here, there's been a lot of talk throughout training camp about the different looks that Rahim Morris could bring to this defense.

5:16Now with these injuries with my kill when it's being on the PUP with list without Sammy O without Alfred Collins. Do you think we'll still see that five man looked tonight against the Rams and maybe slow down some of that run game? That's a great question, Marcus. I think you're, I think you're onto something. I think we will see maybe less of it. The question is if the Rams go three tight ends, how do the Niners counter? Do they go base personnel? And if you do go base personnel, sometimes it's hard to disguise your coverages out of base personnel. It's more difficult than if you play a nickel or a dime. They played a lot of nickel last year against, you know, the 13 personnel, the three tight ends. Do they play nickel? Do they play big nickel? Take up and stout off and put Marquis Seago on there. I kind of a three safety look or do they play base and use Dugger and, you know, I'm not sure. I'll say this though, solow blitz 24% of the time last year. It was the highest blitz rate he had ever had with the 49ers. But guess what Rahim in Atlanta blitzed 40% of the time. That was the second highest blitz rate in the league.

6:17So I would expect to see more man coverage, more blitzes and just a variety. I think he's going to throw a lot of volume, a lot of different looks at Stafford. He also remember beat Stafford in Atlanta last year and a game where the Falcons had three picks and three interceptions. Yeah, that's big one. Yeah, we've been talking about that. Also, it was pointed out by a caller, actually, the bears got to Stafford Lesher. That was cold. It was a win-tree game. So that's different. But, you know, you can be slowed down. I mean, we've kind of built him into this Superman. He's pretty darn good. In fact, do you make anything of the fact that they've won four of the last five and the only one the night is win was sort of that. I don't want to call it a fluke, but it was a sort of pulled one out of their rear end. How do you feel about the last time the nine or saw the Rams Stafford put up 42? Well, I mean, I think this is a really good Rams team. I mean, they, you know, they're one of the best teams in pro football. So there's all kinds of things they can do. I mean, they got a Hall of Fame quarterback who's also the reigning MVP. But, you know, we saw Steve Young's career and I, you know, these quarterbacks that are good late. I mean, Tom Brady's the exception, right? He's in his own category. Put him aside.

7:24He played to 46. The average guy is going to drive off the cliff at some point 37 38 39. So you just never know and Steve Young was great until it was over like he was playing his best ball and then all the sudden one day it's over. And I think Stafford's going to have the same kind of thing. I'm not saying that tonight he's going to be bad. But one of these days he's going to be old and I know when's that going to be I don't know. But I'm kind of hoping that that the 49ers can show him some different looks. You know, the one advantage the Niners have is the Niners have prepped all summer for this game. And guess what the Rams haven't the staffered no snaps all all summer, not one in the preseason. Kyron Williams none. Corum none. Adams none. Puka none. They're walking into this game having basically this is like their first real action all year where the Niners are a bit more battle tested. Brock Pretty's three and 0 and openers. He's played incredibly well this summer. I think the four Niners are going to get him tonight.

8:27But I think it's I think this Ram team is is clearly one of the best teams we've seen talent wise. They're very top heavy. But it's one of the most talented teams we've seen in the last 20 years. Larry taking a look at the 49ers offensive line. How are you feeling about the left guard situation heading into the season? I actually feel pretty good about it. I'm not as concerned about this spot as other people. Conor Colby really look good to me when I went through the preseason three games with a fine tooth comb. I think he has been raped over the colds way too much. I think he's playing at a much higher level than people have said. And then Carver Willis is I think they're going to share the left job of the left guard job Marcus. I think I think we'll see a little bit of Colby will see a little bit of Willis. I talked to Willis at his locker for about 20 30 minutes. The day before they left for for Australia and he's like, hey, I'm I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm going to do all the mental reps. I'm going to you know, I'm going to if I if my numbers called I'm not going to be the guy that lets everybody down.

9:28I do think that that combo is going to get the job done. And then let's just talk a little bit about the George Kittle factor here Larry and he's back. I mean, I don't know what can we realistically expect. It's just an amazing story. It's only been nine months since he tours Achilles you and I lived in an era when that ended careers. But you're realistic. I think it'll get me in zone tonight. That's a tough call. You know, how many what kind of snaps does he have? Does he play, you know, do they use a more as a blocker? Do they use a more as a receiver? You know, what puts more strain on the Achilles. I mean, I don't know. It's actually eight months. Because he had the surgery January 14th. Right. Good call. So we're talking about that. We're not quite eight months. Yeah. So I mean, he's he's breaking new ground, which is awesome for, you know, medical advancements and, you know, football players and these types of injuries in the future. I think I'd be I'd handle him with kid gloves. I would I would not try to use him. I try to use Ton just a lot more. Ton just had a great summer. He's taking it to that next level. Ton just last year was an unknown. Now they paid him a little bit of money. He's he's got a nice little vibe going with party. So I would use Kittle.

10:41I'm just sparingly in this game. I just I wouldn't push it. He just means much to their psyche too much to the fan base. Just and it to me, you got to be responsible with him. It's his career. He's doing one for the team here to try to, you know, get them off on the right foot, but I would protect him from him. All right. And finally Brock party. Last time we saw him was in the playoffs. He actually quietly through two picks and Philly won in Seattle. So his last two games, he's thrown two three picks. He actually threw two in the season finale against Seattle to or pardon me. One in the season finale against Seattle to so I don't know. I'm not trying to put this in the universe. I'm not trying to be a bad guy, but, you know, I'd like to see no picks from Brock party tonight. You know, question from in, but you know, this is Brock party. Brock party's not going to be. And I love Alex Smith. And if he's listening, he's going to hate this. But I mean, the that Alex Smith NFC championship game where Alex just kind of threw it, you know, throw all these out patterns. And they were just a little bit, you know, away from the receiver, but didn't take any real chances.

11:44Brock party is not like that. He's going to take chances. He's going to throw the 50 50 ball. I think what you're going to see this year. And this is what I'm looking forward to seeing the most tonight is last year. The 49ers had the slowest collection of wide receivers. I have ever seen on one team at one time. I mean, every four, seven guys, four, eight guys Kendrick born to one Jennings, good receivers, but slow. Now you've added struggling with his four three speed Evans is a downfield guy. Watkins is a four three guy cowings a four three guy. There's a lot more speed. We've seen him attack down the field in this camp. And there's a lot more separation. Murph, so when there's more separation, you're not throwing as many 50 50 balls. You don't throw as many 50 50 balls. Your interceptions go down. I think those numbers are coming down this year because I think you're going to see receivers in the clear. I think you're going to see Brock dot them up. So I think that it could be the key to the entire offensive turnaround is how much separation. Do 49ers receivers get. I'm expecting them to get a lot more than a year ago.

What did the city think of the San Francisco 49ers? I tell you what, in terms of the court of public opinion, the 49ers are through to the semis without dropping a cent. They have absolutely won over the entire city. This is a Rams game. Australia is supposed to be the Rams district. And look, they've put in work over the last few years with a few different trips and clinics. And that sort of thing. But it's fair to say that everything that the 49ers have done over the last week is completely blown that out of the water. The enthusiasm that the players have shown, the fact that they've, you know, complimented the city they've been out and about. They've done things the executives have been here. Given time to kids, there's a real feel that San Francisco, even though they weren't obligated to decided to come out and give of themselves to Melbourne and Australia, whereas the thought is that even though the Rams are the home team, this is more of just a business trip for them. Zander, you mentioned that the Rams technically are the home team. And we know that

17:58Sean McVey requested the 49ers because they didn't want the 49er faithful to take over Sofie Stadium in LA, but it sounds like the 49er faithful are taking over down under how much of a home field advantage do you think this will be for the 49ers? Right. Well, if you was worried about the what the 75,000 seats are so far stadium, you better get ready for 100,000 49ers fans at the MCG tomorrow morning. Let me tell you about that. Now, I think also something that might not have fact in is that there's a massive legacy fan base of the 49ers from the the Joe Montana days, the Jerry Rostas, like Australian to massive sporting fans and we've had ASPN beaming in for years. And Joe Montana's actually come out to Australia a few times and give it of himself over the years. So yeah, let me tell you, it'll be I think I expect a pretty one-sided fan base, especially all the new tools that were going that maybe go for other teams or were under sighted at the start of the week. They have really one over the hearts of everyone here in Australia and I tell you who else has. I don't know if you guys know about Grant Carn. Yeah, we know very well. Very well. Yes.

19:06He's an NFL an Australian football like panelists now. He's managed to get himself on all the shows next year. He's got an eyebrow next year. He's played everyone on a break. He is a character. He's been very controversial over your grand as a dear friend. You won't believe this, Zander, but I'm old enough. Grant's father was a great journalist, a great writer here in San Francisco. And then so Grant kind of launched his own thing and he started doing sort of the more of the YouTube videos as opposed to the traditional print that his father did. And Grant is aggressive with his takes. He's very, he's very well, as you know, as who's the guy Bond, Tim, the Bond. The Bond. The Bond is getting it from Grant. He's getting the full Grant con treatment down there. Right. So, so Grant's come out and he started with the food reviews and everyone's going, Oh, Grant loves fish and chips. He loves kebabs. He loves and all of a sudden he's killed the sacred cow, the Bond, who is basically considered one of the greatest players of the modern era who played a probably seven out of ten to play off game the other day. So tell us, given what you know of the travel, what's your opinion on the great Jetlag debate? Two very different approaches. The 49ers go for a whole week. The Rams knife in like burglars in the night. Who's doing it right? Yeah. First and foremost, I got to say for the the great American warriors that we always hear about in the NFL, I cannot believe the winging that has been going on about the 15 hour flight from San

22:15Francisco on LA guys. Come on. It's not that bad. You just have an extra beer on the flight. You sleep a little bit more and have a look at the pods that they've been in as well. The fully lie down seats. No, I think in saying that, you do need a few days to acclimatize 100%. 17 hours difference in time zone. I mean, I understand that the Rams, sports scientists, and that have among the best in the world think that they can play on adrenaline and get themselves right. But I think in terms of what's going to happen tomorrow morning, Australia time, there's no doubt that the 49ers have set themselves up better to succeed in the next 24 hours. I mean, what happens in week two? I guess there's a debate that the 49ers might be off kilter when they come back to the States. But I mean, I think Carl Shanahan was saying the other day that he's been bolt up right with his eyes wide open in bed, all hours of the night until about yesterday or two days ago. So it took him that long to get himself right. And even some of your broadcasters have come over here and said that they haven't felt themselves until the last 24 to 48 hours as well. So you can

23:16soldier on, but in terms of being 100% there's no way the LA Rams will be at 100% with the jet lag. Zander, big picture outlook. What is the current state of American football in Australia? Like how popular is it compared to other sports? Is it the most popular American sport? I know majorly baseball has been down there before. NBA is a global sport as well. How big of a brand is the NFL in Australia? And how much bigger do you think it will be after this game? The NFL brand in terms of fans watching the games is massive. It is huge. So the Super Bowl every year is on, you know, roughly eight o'clock in the morning, seven o'clock in the morning, Australia time. And it's among one of our highest rating sport programs for the year. People love it. Australians turn out for sporting events like a few other cultures in the world. And that's not just NFL. It's, you know, English Premier League, it's, you know, World Cup. It's all these other sports. The NFL is definitely the biggest sport in Australia. It's grown exponentially in the last 10 to 15 years, I think. People don't play it. But, you know, the whole wave of punters that transition

24:20from Australian football over to college football and, and the NFL has really helped the growth of it as well. Like kids come through school now and they think, you know, I could go and play college football in America. That's a viable career path for me. But no, in terms of viewing, one, it's already massive. What this will do can't be overstated. Like this is massive for the fabric of our sporting culture. And the fact that there's a four year commitment as well, just means it's going to keep getting bigger and bigger. Oh, actually, I can be honest, I didn't know there's another one next year too. Well, thanks. I'm so dumb that in all my, in all my research for this game, I did not know that's awesome. That's, that's great knowledge there. So good to know that this is the next two teams get to have the great jet lag debate for sure. Just in terms of Australians, I don't know if you were able to have the time worked out for you guys last night, but the Seahawks played the Patriots and the opener and the punter for the Patriots was Mitch Wyschnawski, our old buddy from Australia, who was a 49er punter. So the imprint goes on and

25:20the Eagles, of course, Jordan Milada, their offensive tackle is a non punter zander. So there are actual position players too. Yeah, there's a few of the big boys of Pacific all in descent. They come across and they are big boys to be reckoned with. Jordan Milada, tell you what, he made a lot of headlines when he signed that $100 million, three year contract for the Philadelphia Eagles. That's mind boggling kind of money. Yeah, the AFL here, which by the way in Melbourne is a tribal sport. Yeah, people, it goes courses through people's, through people's veins. We have 10 teams from the AFL that are based in Melbourne and it is in the middle of the playoffs and no one here could give us stuff about it this week. It is all about the NFL completely. But the salary cap for the AFL is about $20 million Australian for a season for an entire roster. So that's our most lucrative sport and you've got guys that come out here who are, you know, but he back up long snappers

26:22that almost make the entire salary cap like it's mind boggling for us. So we're very grateful and in awe of the show that's come to town. Yeah, it's so great. It's great to get your perspective, boots on the ground. And thanks for telling us the 49ers did good and did. Of all our, the 49ers, we thought would be the best ambassador. It's George Kittle. Did it, did it bear out that way that he's the best personality? That is so funny. He say that because he has been the best. And I can't remember who it was. And George Kittle learned to this. He reached out to him and everything like that. And he was planning on doing the arrow celebration, which had everyone in Australia so excited until Kittle found out that the NFL would find him $40,000 because it's a weapon. Oh, man. We'll raise the money. We'll pass the hat. There's been offers of GoFundMe's and there's a lot of prominent Australian sport creators who have who have raged out and said, we'll pay the phone if you do it. So I would say, well, that's something to watch for tonight. That's something to watch for tonight. It's big news that he's playing. You know, he tore his Achilles on January 11. It's only been nine months. So it's he his return has been credited in part to his indomitable spirit and personality for sure. So I see you guys have a favorite tight end to root for too.
