The giants and the cardinals and talk about a heat wave supposed to get

in the 90s here in San Francisco today. I'm John Miller with Jazz Management Tony by Tello and Raffi DeVries. That's the big story of the day, not in the lineup and it's been a long time since he was last out of a lineup. It's I guess that's part of why he's not in there today. Yeah, no, he's carried the load more so than ever the last couple months on offense. Obviously a lot of his days are out there at first base. His base running is so underrated. I had no idea what we are getting into as it related to his base running, but he's been our best first a third guy all year long hands down. He's laid out a bunch of doubles. All that takes a toll and we were probably a day late dollar short yesterday with the lefty going. You know, might have been an even better day, but you could just see pre-gamed during the game, you know, that he kind of hit a wall a little bit. And just communication with him has been great as of late, even more so than earlier in the year. And I think we got to a place where it's good to give him the back-to-back days off. All right, well, and that's the good point is that not only the day off, but then there's a built-in

day off tomorrow before he would have come back for the Friday game. So it's a way to maximize a little chance to rest and maybe inhale a little bit. Yeah, absolutely. And I think, you know, when you got him at his best, he's as good as anybody in the league. So to intentionally downgrade him by wearing him down into the ground doesn't make sense. But the other thing is it sticks with the theme of what we got going on. It's one more opportunity that's in the lineup today for somebody and maybe even an extra person off the bench too. So we'll see what this group can do without their fearless leader. All right, so Eldridge at first and Turner Hill gets a shot at the DH position today. Yeah, Turner's played a lot. We did give him a day off, but he's played a lot and is going to play a lot going into the year. So it wasn't quite picking names out of a hat, but we could have done it a bunch of different ways, but decided to leave him in the DH spot. He's a guy that we probably will not pinch hit for. Again, he's run around a bunch in the outfield. So maybe some fresh bodies in the outfield and Turner Hill at the DH spot is the magic formula.

And it's a group of guys. Most of them, I mean, you have Debra's. You have the great prospect Eldridge that you feel are kind of given in terms of what they can give and what they their future might hold. But this is the land of opportunity for a lot of these other guys showing that they're here and they belonging to here in and should stay. Yeah, and trust me, I'm all for the giants getting as good as we can get roster wise, but looking at it from a player's perspective, it only takes one and it only takes one team to see, believe in you, like what you do. And so these guys are getting to showcase what they can do for our organization, but for the benefit of their career, you know, it'll help them to seize the opportunity. And I think they're doing that right now. Some guys are maybe performing better than others or it might fluctuate day to day, but I personally feel and see an effort that if I was in the stands watching would make me like a guy. And the home run to the opposite field, that was sort of the signature

moment for Bryce Eldridge because this is not a part where many lefties go and clear that wall toward left center by that much. No, and tabooed, it was left on left and it was a guy who, if you go back and replay our early at bats, guys were really struggling to get above his fastball. And Bryce definitely did that. He got even with it as a matter of fact. And it wasn't a wall scraper either. I mean, it wasn't 40 rows back, but it was a good, good handful of rows back. So it was impressive. And I think we're probably like most teams, the better we start a game, the better we are. And I think that got everybody in the good mood that carried out throughout nine innings. And that young guy, Quinn Matthews, out of Stanford, has only allowed the one home run to a left kind of a hitter. And that was last night by Bryce Eldridge. Yeah, he's been dynamite on lefties. So those two know each other too. And it was kind of fun catching up with Quinn after the game today. And he talked about Bryce and just isn't love with how Bryce carries himself. And he got

to meet him and interact with him a few times and was impressed then too. So I think everybody knows what we're dealing with as it relates to Eldridge's bat and how he's gotten better at first. But his character seems to be the thing that's shining through. All right, one final quick comment from Tony by Tello next. Hey, everybody, Brian Murphy here. Book ahead at supercuts.com. At 21, a quick comment, the giants with lead tid well today and Andre Palante for the Cardinals. What do you know about him? Yeah, Palante has been around for a little bit. His early years was dynamite and self against lefties, even though he's a righty.

It's turned a little bit this year. So it'll be interesting to see who gets a better look at him. Lefties are righties. We have more lefties in there than not today. But he's kind of got that high release for giants fans. Maybe compare the delivery a little bit to Trent Harris or at least his arm slot. And then obviously we got our guy, Tidwell, going today, who's looking to have an outing that's much, much better than the one he had in Pittsburgh. He finished well in Pittsburgh. But the first inning was a 40 pitch inning and with our bullpen, the state of our bullpen, but just in an effort to win, we can't have that today. So here we go. Giant's Cardinals, the finale of the series. And that's the Tony Vitel O'Show for today. Hey, everybody. Brian Murphy here. Well, summers in the rear view.
