No.
No.
No.
No.
Alrighty folks, there's a lot of bad stuff that comes out of Hollywood,
obviously, like,
Waffering Heights.
Quarer Show.
But today we're going to go through some celebrities who do things that are worthy of emulation.
A truly worthy of emulation.
People who are doing things your kids can look up to.
This video is sponsored by our friends over at Preborn.
Well, top of the list, obviously, James Vanderbeek.
Vanderbeek is known to everybody of my generation as the guy from Dawson's Creek.
He was Dawson of Dawson's Creek.
He got married in 2010, actually on a trip to Israel.
He met his wife.
They have six kids, and he kind of documented his journey toward the end of his life.
A lot of what he had to say was incredibly inspirational.
Inspiring and very religious in connotation.
Here's what James Vanderbeek had to say.
And then this year, I had to look my own mortality in the eye.
I had to come nose to nose with death.
And all of those definitions that I cared so deeply about were stripped for me.
I was away for treatment, so I could no longer be a husband that was helpful to my wife.
I could no longer be a father who could pick up his kids and put them to bed
and be there for them.
I could not be a provider because I wasn't working.
And so I was faced with a question.
If I am just a too skinny, weak guy alone in an apartment with cancer,
what am I?
And I meditated and the answer came through, I am worthy of God's love.
It's simply because I exist.
And if I'm worthy of God's love, shouldn't I also be worthy of my own?
And the same is true for you.
I mean, truly moving and inspirational and such a great way to approach life.
Because obviously that's all true.
Now, I think that the part of it that is really painful to think about is that he says
you identify as a husband and a father, and then that gets stripped away too, and that's true.
And that's a hard realization because we all build our identities around our relationships
with the family and around our relationship with friends.
But in the end, it's you and God.
One amazing message there from James Vanderby.
Okay, also on our list, Kevin James.
So Kevin is a very faithful Catholic.
I'm friendly with Kevin.
I think he's fantastic.
He's unbelievably talented.
I'm not sure there's ever been a more likable person on screen.
He just watched every movie with him and he's just a likable human on the screen.
Every TV show is likable.
Here he was, talking about fasting for his sick daughter.
How many days have you fastened a row?
You don't you don't want to know.
How many days?
41 and a half.
What?
41 and a half.
You went 41 days with no food?
Water.
And little salt in the water, like a little electrolytes.
And I lost it.
Yeah.
See, when I lock on, I can do something.
Oh, I know that.
But that's a crazy lock on.
41 days.
Well, that was, I was fasting for, it was mental.
It was like, I felt so bad for my daughter.
I said, I'm going to do this for you.
It was something that I could do, you know, and apply it to.
And it was like so emotionally tied into me.
And I started fasting and I go, I didn't, I didn't say I'm going to do 40 days.
I just said, I'm going to do whatever I can.
I'm going to start fasting right now.
And I was praying for it.
Like, I mean, I was worried.
And I did like four or five days.
And I was getting through it.
But I was like, I was wanting to get off it then.
I was like, well, I got to start to eat because I'm really hungry.
And I went, I talked to my daughter.
I go, how are you feeling?
She goes, I've been feeling good.
She goes, have you been fasting for me?
And I go, yeah.
And she goes, thank you so much.
And I literally went, okay, I got to keep going.
I couldn't stop then.
So I just kept going day at a time, you know, and just do it.
Kevin is very religious.
He is extremely thorough going in his religiosity
and a fabulous person.
The perspective in Judaism on fasting
is actually really interesting.
You can voluntarily fast.
That is a real thing that happens in Judaism.
There obviously a bunch of fast days for the destruction of the temple.
The biggest fast day, of course, is you know,
I'm keep going when you fast for God's forgiveness, essentially.
But the basic idea of fasting is that you're depriving yourself
of something that your body wants and desires.
In order to think more about your spirituality
and the goal of fasting, presumably, is to change you.
Not because God is changing his mind or something.
It's not like a gumball machine.
But the idea that you have such a relationship
with God that you want to show him
that you're willing to sacrifice something
that means something to you.
Another favorite from people who particularly
have a religious orientation is Chris Pratt
who's always been a class act in public,
being truly somebody who moved to a religion
a little bit later, I believe, in his life.
Here's Chris Pratt talking about that.
Number one, breathe.
If you don't, he'll suffocate.
Number two, you have a soul.
Be careful with it.
Number three, don't be a turd.
If you're strong, be a protector.
And if you're smart, be a humble influencer.
Strength and intelligence can be weapons
and do not wield them against the weak.
That makes you a bully.
Be bigger than that.
Doesn't matter what it is, earn it.
A good deed, reach out to someone in pain.
Be of service.
It feels good and it's good for your soul.
Number six, God is real.
God loves you.
God wants the best for you.
Believe that, I do.
I mean, to say that at the MTV Movie Awards
is pretty spectacular.
He, of course, is huge on the HALO app.
You want to join us on HALO this year?
I was hoping you'd ask.
Yes, stay prayed up.
I'll stay prayed up.
You said it.
And recently on Bill Maher, he was asked about politics
and he said, listen, we should be able to celebrate his country
when the president's of the United States
of his name is Trump actually does really, really well.
It's a great speech, by the way.
You go watch the whole thing.
80,000 babies.
That's how many lives were saved last year
through our sponsor preborn and their supporters like you.
Right now, thousands of women are being told the same
heartbreaking lie that abortion is the only choice.
But they're on their own.
But there's no way forward.
But everything shifts the moment an expectant mother
walks into a preborn network clinic
and sees her baby on that ultrasound screen.
In that instant, her chance of choosing life doubles.
Suddenly, it's not abstract anymore.
It's her baby created in God's image.
A sacred life meant to be cherished and protected.
And when she hears that heartbeat for the very first time,
a divine bond is formed.
Right now, my wife is pregnant with our fifth.
Every single time we see an ultrasound,
it is just a miracle.
It's unbelievable.
I'm seeing my child's profile right now.
Today, we can all support a mother
and need a donation of just $28 provides one ultrasound
that could save a life and impact generations to come.
Let's make this the biggest life-saving year we've ever seen.
Call pound 250, say the word baby.
That's pound 250, baby.
Or visit preborn.com slash pen to donate securely today again.
That's preborn.com slash pen preborn.com slash pen.
All right, next on the list, Mark Wahlberg.
Of course, Mark Wahlberg is a very religious Catholic as well.
And as a popular movie star for several decades,
at this point, he continues to make movies
that steer into his faith in very real ways.
Here he is talking about his faith.
It's a balance. I don't want to jam it down to anybody's throat.
But I do not deny my faith.
That's an even bigger sin.
You know, it's not popular in my industry.
But, you know, I cannot deny my faith.
It's important for me to share that with people.
But I have friends from all walks of life
and all different types of faiths and religions.
So, you know, it's important to respect
and honor them as well.
Yeah, what does it mean to you, your faith?
Oh, it's everything.
It really has. It's afforded me so many things.
Obviously, you know, God didn't come to save the saints.
He came to save the sinners.
We've all had things and issues in our lives.
And we want to be veterans of ourselves.
And through focusing my faith,
it's allowed me to do that.
I mean, again, great stuff here from Mark Wahlberg.
Zach Levi, best known for playing Chuck on Chuck.
And then, of course, he was the voice of Flynn Rider
in Disney's Tangled. He's in Shazam.
Shazam!
He's been a bunch of major vehicles, obviously.
He's openly conservative.
He's regularly appeared on Fox News.
I know Zach, he's a super nice person.
Really, really great guy.
Here he is talking about his faith.
I have a lot of, you know,
journey as a Christian in my life and my faith
is still very much tied to a lot of the bedrock of Christ
and his words.
And I think so many of the things that he stood for.
But I would never, ever be able to tell you
with any certainty at all
that I know who and what the entirety of God is.
Anyone who's selling you that,
I think really needs to take a hard look at their own hubris.
I think it is ridiculous as human beings
that within one sentence, within one breath,
we can both say there is a God
and I know everything about them.
If there's a God, you know nothing.
God is everything and everywhere.
We can't possibly know all that.
So I think everybody needs to check themselves
on that level a little bit.
You know, let's let's still dive into our spiritualities
and go find as much of God as we can.
And I think it's evidenced all over, you know,
the Torah, the new and old testaments,
even the Quran, you can find really truly evidenced places
where there is, I think, recognition of this incredible entity.
Buddhists, Hindu, there's all a recognition of guys.
We're not doing this alone.
There is, there is something that is way bigger than all of us.
And we need to be humble to it.
You can be a miracle and connect that to some spirituality.
You're also just a scientific miracle.
The odds of you existing, the odds of this planet,
doing what it's doing,
and that all of us, all of our individual spirits and energies,
whether that's an energy that's connected to each other
or a bigger thing or it's an energy that's just exclusively within you,
you have actual energy, glucose and all that shit,
flying through your body,
the coffee that we're drinking,
the sunshine that we're feeling,
that's all real energy, that's all real science,
and that's all a miracle.
This is a miracle place.
So, yeah, again, his general perspective on God there
is totally correct.
Obviously, he's being ecumenical in his approach to God.
Yep, for sure.
He is a religious Christian, Zach,
and, and, you know, the fact that you have celebrity speaking openly
about God and his presence in the world is a great thing.
David Henry of Wizards of Waverly Place,
another person with whom I'm friendly.
He's terrific.
He talks openly about his religion.
I had nothing to stand on.
I was steeped in relativism,
and I was steeped in just this world, especially in LA,
where it's like everyone is so scared
to state an opinion or say anything
that it just, it puts you in this like relativistic bubble.
And what I loved about the Catholic thought on life is,
is it gives you an end goal,
and it gives you all the means to get there
and all these great helpers along the way,
all these sacramentals.
And it's the best answering on suffering I've ever heard,
or the difficulties of life.
It's so redemptive and so meritorious.
And that just rang true,
because everything I've ever gotten in life,
I've had to work so hard for.
So those things really spoke to me and just made sense.
My experience with reality really reflected
the teachings of the church.
So again, he is, he is open about his religiosity,
faithful Catholic, very thoughtful in his approach to religion.
These are all people who, you know, your kids might know
or certainly you might know.
And they're all people who are demonstrating
what is best about their faith on the public stage,
which is an amazing thing.
Kerry Underwood is famously religious on American Idol
in April, 2025.
She was getting slammed at the time
because she had performed God forbid at Trump's inauguration.
I want to tell you, I know how difficult it is
to come into the entertainment industry
and bring your faith with you.
It is a brave thing to do,
because there are a lot of, a lot of outside forces
that are going to tell you not to do that.
I want to tell you that I'm proud of you guys.
Good for her.
You know, conveying that message to younger people
for being a religious is a great thing.
Denzel Washington has been, I think,
one of the world's most pleasant surprises
in terms of his open embrace of values and religion.
I don't think Denzel is particularly Republican
in any sense, he's remained pretty stoutly apolitical.
Who you wound up supporting in the election, presidential election.
None of your business.
Yeah.
But whenever he talks about God and his values, it's great stuff.
I wasn't put on this earth to act.
I was put on this earth to share
and to be an example of the power and wisdom
and grace and mercy of God in my life.
I've been blessed.
I've been disciplined.
I've been checked.
I've been protected.
I've been directed.
And I appreciate every day that I wake up.
And I will give thanks to the Lord every day
for the rest of my days.
And that's beautiful.
That's beautiful.
And again, he has an enormous footprint.
It's the fact that he speaks like that.
It's a pretty amazing thing.
Tim Allen, another very famous figure who is religious.
This has been a year, almost a little over a year.
I read the Aramaic, French, Latin, and Greek versions
of the Old Testament page by page.
I put it down if I drift.
And I got all the way through the Old Testament.
I'm four pages into the New Testament as of this morning.
Read it as a scientist.
It's one of two guys told me a priest in a rabbi.
EXE, let the words come to you.
Do not look for meaning.
It will come to you.
And all of that has been life-changing.
I mean, I can't believe it's not what I thought it was.
The Bible is not what I thought it was.
It's very little preachy stuff.
It's stories you'll derive, you know, it's mostly the Torah is about law, you know.
Consequence.
Yeah, law and consequence and all this.
And the book of Job was the one that affected me most.
And again, he's right.
And engaging with the actual words of the Bible is an amazing way to change your life.
When people ask me the most impactful book on me, the answer obviously is the Torah,
which I've now read just by going through it every year.
We go through it every year, 30 odd times.
And then in my personal study, probably another 50 or 60 odd times.
So there's always something to find there for sure.
Well, those are some of these celebrities who are worthy of emulation.
They're not all bad.
They're not all in weathering heights.
There are a lot of people out there who are good in doing good work.
We'll get to more on this in just one moment.
First, starting something new can be scary.
