Hello friends, welcome to the SeenPod for Kids.
0:09
Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus.
0:15
Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day.
0:19
Let's begin our time together, praising Him.
0:26
Did you know that the song redeemed was based off of a text in Lamentations, chapter 3, verse 58?
0:33
Here's what it says,
0:34
O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul, thou hast redeemed my life.
0:41
Originally, this song had five verses, but in our Adventist hymn book today, you will only find three.
0:47
Let's sing this song together.
0:52
3. Redeemed how I love to proclaim it,
1:02
3. Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb,
1:05
3. Redeemed through his infinite mercy,
1:09
3. Is chaden forever I am,
1:12
3. Redeemed, redeemed,
1:16
3. Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb,
1:19
3. Redeemed, redeemed,
1:24
3. Is chaden forever I am,
1:27
3. I know there's a crown that is waiting
1:31
3. In yonder bright mention for me,
1:34
3. And soon with a sense made perfect,
1:38
3. At home with the Lord I shall be,
1:41
3. Redeemed, redeemed,
1:45
3. Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb,
1:48
3. Redeemed, redeemed,
1:53
3. Is chaden forever I am.
2:02
Welcome to Hide His Word,
2:04
a special program where we take a few minutes to hide God's Word in our hearts.
2:09
Let's go ahead and get started.
2:13
Today we're going to start at Psalm 23
2:16
and go all the way through verse 5.
2:19
I'll go nice and slow.
2:21
Try to say it right along with me.
2:24
The Lord is my shepherd.
2:30
He makes me to lie down in green pastures.
2:35
He leads me beside the still waters.
2:40
He restores my soul.
2:44
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
2:52
Yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
3:00
I will fear no evil.
3:04
For you are with me,
3:07
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
3:13
You prepare a table before me
3:18
in the presence of my enemies.
3:23
You anoint my head with oil.
3:34
Now we're going to review Psalm 91,
3:37
the whole chapter from verse 1 to verse 16.
3:41
Let's go ahead and try to say that together.
3:46
He who dwells in the secret place of the most high
3:50
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
3:54
I will say of the Lord.
3:57
He is my refuge and my fortress.
4:01
By God in Him I will trust.
4:05
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the Fowler.
4:10
And from the perilous pestilence.
4:13
He shall cover you with His feathers.
4:16
And under His wings you shall take refuge.
4:20
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
4:24
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night.
4:29
Nor of the arrow that flies by day.
4:32
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness.
4:36
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noon day.
4:40
A thousand may fall at your side.
4:43
And ten thousand at your right hand.
4:46
But it shall not come near you.
4:48
Only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked.
4:54
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge.
4:58
Even the most high your dwelling place.
5:01
No evil shall befall you.
5:04
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.
5:07
For He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways.
5:13
In their hands they shall bear you up.
5:16
Unless you dash your foot against a stone.
5:19
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra.
5:23
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample under foot.
5:27
Because He has set His love upon me, therefore I will deliver Him.
5:34
I will set Him on high because He has known my name.
5:39
He shall call upon me and I will answer Him.
5:43
I will be with Him in trouble.
5:45
I will deliver Him and honor Him.
5:48
With long life I will satisfy Him and show Him my salvation.
5:55
You are doing such a good job memorizing these verses.
5:59
I am so proud of you.
6:01
Keep up the good work.
6:03
Have you ever played the game Telephone?
6:25
So where everyone sits in a big circle and then somebody tells the first person a word or a phrase.
6:32
It might be the dog ran and jumped over the fence.
6:38
And then the next person leans over to the person next to them and they whisper in their ear.
6:43
The dog ran and jumped over the fence.
6:46
And then pretty soon they lean over the person next to them.
6:49
But this time maybe they didn't hear correctly or maybe they thought that there was more than what there really was.
6:55
And so they lean to the person next to them and say the dog jumped over the fence.
7:00
And then the person next to them says, oh the dog jumped over the fence.
7:04
Okay, so they lean over the dog jumped over the fence.
7:09
And then the person next to them says, what?
7:12
What? What was that? But you can't repeat it again.
7:14
So they make their best guess and they lean to the person next to them and they say the dog jumped on me.
7:21
And then the next person says, the dog jumped on me.
7:24
And the next person says the dog jumped on me and I fell down.
7:29
And then all of a sudden you get all the way around and it might be completely different.
7:34
It might be the turkey jumped and then fell down.
7:41
It's pretty fun to play telephone because you get some crazy answers because as people
7:47
talk and as they tell someone something else, sometimes the message that they're sharing
7:53
can get a little twisted.
7:55
And that's what we're going to find out happen today with Captain Naaman when he went to
8:03
But first let's pray.
8:05
Lord, be with us as we study, as we learn, as we open our Bible and as we read about this
8:11
special story, help us to learn from it in Jesus' name, Amen.
8:17
In Samaria, at the palace of the King of Israel, there was a lot of excitement because
8:23
Captain Naaman had arrived.
8:25
Him and his entourage, you know what an entourage is.
8:28
It's basically a bunch of servants and people that take care of the livestock and all the
8:33
people to make sure that he has everything he needs and they travel along with him to
8:38
make sure that he's safe and oh, there's just a lot of people that go along with the
8:43
captain of the army of Syria.
8:46
So as he comes there, he is there in the King of Israel in his palace and the King of
8:53
Israel reads the letter from the King of Syria.
8:56
Remember, their enemies, right?
8:58
King of Syria had been going in and taking things from the different towns and farmsteads
9:06
there in the land of Israel and so their enemies.
9:11
But as he reads the letter, the King of Israel is just absolutely terrified.
9:19
In fact, he was so upset that he tore his robe.
9:25
Do the King and Syria think that he, the King of Israel, could heal someone of lepercy?
9:32
No one could heal anyone with lepercy.
9:35
All the doctors said it's incurable.
9:38
He thought all the Syrian King wanted to do was start another war.
9:42
Well, look at 2 Kings, chapter 5, verse 7.
9:47
So we're going to 2 Kings, chapter 5, and then verse 7, it's after 1 Kings, you know,
9:52
1st and 2 Kings, 1st and 2nd Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther Job.
9:57
So we're going to 2 Kings, chapter 5, verse 7.
10:01
Here is what that says.
10:03
When it happened, when the King of Israel read the letter that he tore his clothes and said,
10:09
am I God to kill and make alive that this man sends a man to me to heal him of his lepercy
10:17
before pleased, consider and see how he seeks a cruel with me.
10:22
He's like, who am I God?
10:24
I can just decide who should be healed and who shouldn't.
10:28
Someone rushed over to Elisha's house with the news and Elisha was sorry because the
10:33
King didn't even think about God, he didn't think about the power that God had, and look
10:40
So it was when Elisha, the man of God, heard that the King of Israel had torn his clothes,
10:47
but he sent to the King, saying, why have you torn your clothes, please let him come
10:53
to me, and he shall know that there was a prophet in Israel.
10:58
We don't know how Elisha found out about it, somebody must have come and told him, maybe
11:03
he was walking in the streets and he heard the whispers, all the gossip, I don't know,
11:08
but he sent a message to the King, and he said, you know what, you should not be all concerned
11:15
about this, send him to me, soon name and his soldiers were at the door of Elisha's house,
11:23
they were waiting to see him.
11:25
Even how surprised the captain was when a servant came out to talk to him.
11:30
He was used to people showing him great respect, and how could this prophet dare send a servant
11:39
He thought that he was very important, and that Elisha should know that he was important,
11:43
and to send a servant showed that Elisha thought that, he wasn't all that important, well
11:49
when he heard the message, when he heard what Elisha said he was supposed to do in order
11:54
to be healed, he was more insulted than ever.
11:59
Look at verses 9, 10, 11, and 12, we're still in 2 Kings, chapter 5, and now let's read
12:07
verses 9, 10, 11, and 12, those 4 verses.
12:11
The name went with his horses and cheer it, and he stood at the door of Elisha's house,
12:18
and Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, go and wash him with Jordan 7 times, and
12:24
you flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.
12:29
But name and became furious, and went away and said, indeed I said to myself, he will
12:36
surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord is God, and wave his
12:42
hand over the place, and heal the leprosy, or not the abana and the far part, the rivers
12:49
of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel, could I not wash them and be clean, so
12:56
he turned and went away in a rage.
12:59
It was true, the Jordan River wasn't very clean, it was actually pretty muddy.
13:06
Have you ever seen a river that's really muddy, and you don't even really want to get
13:11
in it because oof, it just looks gross.
13:15
Yeah, but there's other rivers, other lakes, that are very, very clean, and you look and
13:21
you can see the bottom and you can see the pebbles on the ground, and oh, it's so nice,
13:26
the Jordan River, it was pretty muddy.
13:29
And Gehazai, Elisha's servant, watched as Naaman turned his chariot and horses around
13:37
His servants followed him, and they were all very disappointed.
13:41
Maybe Elisha was watching from a window, we don't know, but he wasn't worried.
13:46
He had done just what God had told him to do.
13:51
Now it was up to Naaman, and what would Captain Naaman choose?
13:55
Did he know God yet?
13:58
Did he know about being humble?
14:00
No, he didn't, but he was about to learn, and it was going to change his entire life.
14:08
We're going to find out more about that next time.
14:13
Let's bow our heads and pray.
14:15
Lord, help us to be humble, help us to be helpful, help us to be kind.
14:21
Thank you so much that Elisha had that relationship with you so that when people were in trouble,
14:27
he could help them to learn more about you and be a witness for you, help us to be a witness
14:32
to those around us each and every day, wherever we go in Jesus' name, Amen.
14:38
To train up a child, train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, when
14:58
he is old, he will not depart from it.
15:04
To train up a child, train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, when
15:20
he is old, he will not depart from it.
15:26
To train up a child, train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, when
15:30
he is old, he will not depart from it.
15:34
It's hard to find good quality, affordable, homeschool curriculum to help parents capture
15:39
the interest of children and youth, leading them to give their hearts to Jesus.
15:44
But my Bible first has done just that.
