APM Washington Time is the deadline President Trump set for Iran to reopen the
Strait of Hormuz to all ship traffic.
On social media, the president said if the deadline is not met, a whole civilization
will die tonight at the United Nations.
Iran is a direct threat to international peace and security.
It is responsible for its own thuggery, and it alone is responsible for the ramifications.
The U.S. Ambassador Mike Walts says President Trump will continue the actions necessary
to defend the American people.
We have put serious diplomatic proposals before Iran.
The U.S. remains prepared for meaningful diplomacy, but diplomacy cannot succeed where defiance,
delay, and escalation remain Tehran's only response.
Even before the deadline, airstrikes hit two bridges and a train station in Iran.
