I'm Hayup Andrani with an AP News Minute, the S&P 500 sunk to 1.7% to close out its

worst weeks since the Iran war started, and its fifth losing week in a row.

At a news conference, House Speaker Mike Johnson says the Senate legislation to fund

parts of DHS is a joke.

It is inconscionable to me that the Democrats would force some sort of negotiation at

three o'clock in the morning to try to hoist this among the American people and then

get on their jets and go home for their holiday and pretend and think that we're going

to go along with that.

So we're going to do something different.

Speaking with reporter Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the U.S. did not tell Ukraine

that it must give Russia the Donbass region.

We've told the Ukrainian side what the Russians are insisting on.

We're not advocating for it.

We've explained it to them.

It's their choice to make.

It's not for us to make for them.

We've never told them to have to take it or leave it.

The role we have played is to try to figure out what both sides want and see if we can

bridge the middle ground.
