On this day, April 1, 1976, a small technology company that would eventually reshape the
modern world was founded. Steve Jobs, Steve Wallsniak, and Ronald Wayne established Apple
Computer Company in California, initially building and selling the Apple One Personal Computer.
What began as a small startup would grow into one of the most influential technology companies
in the world. Also on this day, in 1945, American forces began the Battle of Okinawa,
one of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific during World War II.
Also on this day, in 1970, President Richard Nixon signed legislation
banning cigarette advertising on television and radio in the United States.
